Every Thursday morning, students gather in the chapel to pray Morning Prayer from the Liturgy of the Hours. It’s a time of unity, praise, and prayer that feeds our community and brings us closer to the Lord.

Photo Friday: A Look From Above

IMG_0617

I love flying. I love seeing the earth from above and trying to guess what is below based on little clues like bodies of water, the color of the vegetation, and major roads. It is a change in perspective that makes me think about how big our world is and how many people are out there trying to make a life out of what they have been given. Last weekend I got to fly home to Minnesota for Thanksgiving break and I took this picture of Minnesota as I was flying back. I think that the view from the plane looks even cooler with the snow. I had a wonderful trip home and it is crazy to think that I’ll be back there in just two weeks for Christmas break. So, this photo was a goodbye to Minnesota, but it won’t be long before I see this place again!

Photo Friday: Halloween Party

Last weekend, SPO and FOCUS at Seton Hall hosted a Halloween party! It was a great night of dancing, talking, eating, and dressing up. It was a welcome alternative to the other Halloween parties around campus that usually feature revealing costumes and drinking. We teamed up with FOCUS (another Catholic missionary group on campus) to put on this event. Ben and I were dressed up like a black and white photo. It took a lot of makeup and hair spray, but, in certain light we definitely looked like an old photo.

Photo Friday: Small Group Kick-off

A picture is worth a thousand words and I’d like to share more of the pictures from SPO events, so I am going to start Photo Friday on Heartfelt Musings. Each week, I’ll post a picture and tell you about something that is going on with SPO or my life in New Jersey. Come back each week to see something new!

Back in September, we had a small group kick-off night so that students could get their books, meet their small group leaders, and learn a little bit about the reason that we have small groups. These small groups are groups of 5-7 students that meet weekly to discuss a section of the book Starting Point by Andy Stanley. This weekly meeting is a time for students to talk about life and faith in an environment that fosters good conversation, invites thought-provoking questions, and builds relationships of trust.
